Finally got to dive my new Transpac last Tuesday and again on Saturday. Reaaly enjoyed it and am convinced I made the right decision. I used a DUI weight harness both days and now need to try it with the integrated weight pockets instead. I think it will make it slightly more stable and may reduce the need for a crotch strap. (Didn't use mine and needed it) Maybe this weekend I'll get to try the integrated version.

Carl...if it works for you....then ...woohoo....great.

Enjoy and refine more and more

So did I. Dove it Saturday (3) and Sunday(2) using a single AL80 tank. I used the crotch strap but really didn't know if it was needed or not. I may experiment next time out. I used 2, 2 lb trim weights on each side of the tank and the weight pockets with 3 lbs in each. That's 2 less lbs than normal.

Fit well, felt secure, got some decent pictures.

Congratulations.

Try it with and without the crotch strap. Personally I much prefer it with. I find it makes the whole rig much more stable.

Body build has a lot to do with it. I am quiet ""cuddly"" therefore the waist belt pulled tight is more than enough to fix my TransPlate and I dont need the crotch strap. Which is good because I always forgot to unhook that dang thing when I took my rig off.

Good point about body shape. I'm kind of straight up and down (175 and 6') so I find that I tend to slip right out, especially on the surface. :)

Have you tried diving without the back pad? How about without the cumberbund? I have a transpac too and am starting to really wonder if, at least for boat or easy entry shore diving, less is more. But would like to first hear from someone who tried it.

I have about 20 dives on my transpac. I have removed the back pad, cumberbun, and the shoulder pads. I really enjoy the stripped down version without all that extra padding. I dive a 3mm full suit and the rig is very comfortable.

I have the 32# weight system which is way too bulky for anything I will ever do and I will be purchasing some xsScuba pockets in the very near future. I just need to place the order.

Dive often and everything seems to fit more into place.

I use the transpac with 2 xs scuba weight pockets with 5lbs each and have no need for the crotchstrap as tightening the belt around my "cuddly" body holds it in place quite well.
