After over a year of detours and changes of plans I finally finished my OW cert and came back to reading the scubaboards.. Hurray me!!

Diving in Kona Hawaii is really hard on the body and I don't recomend it. Boring to say the least.. The weather sucks, visability nill, and the people are horrid.. Moving here for the diving would be a really bad idea, stay far far away.. (If you havn't clued into the sarcasm yet you need a big dose of aloha!)

Kona is amazing. Our lds is great, my intstructor is top notch and you can't beat the view from my parents lanai.. I wish I lived hear year round but alas several times a year will have to suffice.

I'm really excited about diving Monterey Bay since it is only a few hours drive for me. It'll be the antithisis of warm Hawaii diving but just as spectacular from what pictures and friends tell me.

I look forward to posting more and getting to know everyone.

Aloha!

Sarah

WELCOME -BACK- to ScubaBoard!!!!
I've already read a couple of your posts,
so believe you don't need any coaching to
join us in our banter.
You are surely aware of the great education
offered by the many pros here.
So, Aloha! back and I look forward (not rearward)
to reading your posts as I bump into them while
wandering aimlessly through the threads.

Howdy!

And welcome to SB - the biggest, the best, the fastest growing, and :D the friendliest!
If you'll simply click ScubaBoard.com above, you'll be taken to our long list of forums, a wealth of information and resources. My favorite is at the bottom: Singles Dive Club.

I noticed elsewhere that you are an equistriene. I know they run cattle on the Big Island, but I've wondered if they use horses for roundups there, and how the hoofs hold up on that volanic rock?

PM me if I can help you learn your way around; that is - click my username to the upper left, then follow the prompts to send me a "Personal Message." :thumb:

Welcome to ScubaBoard! :happywave

It's great that you get to experience a variety in diving from warm water to cold. While I loved diving in Hawaii, I find that our cold water diving has its own unique charms as well. I'm not talking about "dry suit" cold water, but I look forward to going there as well someday.

Dive safe!

Christian

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or respond to in this forum.

Welcome back! I won't cry too much for you over your just a few times a year in Hawaii. I really need to get over there, then it'll be 50 states visited for me. Anyway, enjoy the board!

Hey Sarah!

I absolutely love Kona! You are so lucky to have one foot on the Big Island. The diving over there is truly special.

Hey, if you ever find yourself up in Northern California (no Monterey is not Northern California ;), give me a shout. We're way up in Humboldt County. there's good diving in Mendocino and Sonoma for sure...not sure if it's a closer drive from Reno or not, but anyway...

Welcome to scubaboard! I look forward to reading your posts about Kona, and the subsequent jealousy ;)

Humuhumunukunukuapua'a is my favorite fish for a number of reasons. Giggling when I say it being the foremost. I'm considering naming my new show horse that so the announcers have heart attacks trying to read his name.

Yes, Kona is amazing and I'm truely lucky to get to be here as much as I do.

I used to live in Mendocino and there are a few places up there that I really want to dive. I'll get to CA for diving at least once a month so maybe instead of going south I'll go north sometimes. It's only 6ish hours.

Aloha!
