quite proud of my daughter. My daughter was certified last summer but after certification we never got the chance to dive. Well tonight I arranged for us to get in a pool and we conducted our own mini refresher course. We each took turns doing skills that I had written on a slate. You know, things like reg clearing, reg recovery, mask clearing etc etc. This was the first chance that I had to really be able to evaluate her one on one. She did very well which I think speaks highly of her training several months ago. We spent quite abit of time working on neutral bouyancy and practicing hovering. She made fair progress with this and I certainly needed to knock some rust off my bouyancy control. I believe in my heart that she will be a skilled diver if she sticks with it.

She was kind of surprised to find out that I was going to do the skills with her. I explained to her that it was important to practice these things regardless of how many dives you've made. I also told her that I go through the skills on my own a couple of times each diving season just so I don't forget them.

Well thanks for letting me ramble.

Just another proud father :cheer:

I did a pool dive with my son while he was doing a PADI Seal Team night dive last Friday night. I waited in the deep end for 30 minutes doing a SAC rate test, then when the kids started their night dive. I after waiting for the Right moment Grabbed my Son's tank and Held on.. It was funny.. My son not once turned to look behind him.. after about 5 minutes I let him go..

On the surface I asked him if anything was wrong? he said his fins were broken.

Oh I can't wait till he gets older and we can play in the big water.

It is nice to get them young and teach them proper and let them know that you can have real fun if you obey the rules..

My turn to boast.... :D

My boy is doing his first confined water dive tonight.....

I want to go and watch but I have to watch the other kids ;-0

He'll have his mother with him (because she is doing her's as well )

Sunday, we are all in the pool together. Me doing my Advanced Nitrox, them doing OW.

Glad to hear the training went so well. I hope that we can dive some time this summer. Good to have you back on the board.

Fishkiller---I love that,"my fins were broken" answer!! The time will come quickly when you and the son can play in the big water. They grow up so quickly.

Ontario Diver--I got dive with the class on my daughters last 2 OW cert dives. It was a real joy watching her do the skills and then following her on the touring they did after the skills performance. I highly recommend it if you get the chance to go with them.

ckharlan66-- there's a chance that we may be diving the quarry on April 20th & 21st. I'm thinking of having Phillip do the CESA & OOA scenarios with her. We will also work on prcaticing bouyancy control and refining techniques abit. After that some sightseeing. I'll probably be in the nearby lake well before that to do compass practice and low viz things. I'm sincerely looking forward to diving with you this year.

jbd,

Last time we dove togather you disappeared from the board for a long time. I was afraid it was something I said...but seriously, I had a good time and learned alot. I am looking forward to this summer and hopefully diving alot.

Chad

I just got really busy with marching band, and home and farm things and at the time also trying to get the assistant instructor training going. That ended up being more about swimming than diving. Typical too much much to do in too little time.
