So I finally got my permit and a informative update about the construction.

June 12th
, 2009
Subject: Blue Hole - Annual Dive Permits
Dear SCUBA Professional or Enthusiast:
Thank you for supporting the City of Santa Rosa's efforts to improve and revitalize the
Blue Hole Dive Facility by purchasing a 2009 Annual Dive Permit. Sorry about the delay in
getting the permits out, and I hope it was not an inconvenience.
It is through your continued support of the Blue Hole that improvements are made possible.
Dive permit revenues go directly into an exclusive fund for Blue Hole dive site. The City of
Santa Rosa, who owns and operates the Blue Hole, has also set aside local tax dollars for
building, equipping and furnishing the facility. The City of Santa Rosa has worked diligently for
the past few years to plan, design and construct a facility that measures up to the unique
diving resource that is the Blue Hole.
The current timeline and schedule for the new SCUBA facility at the Blue Hole is as
follows:
o June 10th
o July
o September
o October
o April
o April
2009 80% completion
2009 RFP's for Interpretive Installments and Furnishings
2009 Completion of Facility
2010 Ribbon Cutting Celebration
2010 Grand Opening Celebration
Special Invitations will be sent to Friends of Blue Hole
and Santa Rosa Annual Permit Holders
2010 Grand Opening Celebration _1 st Annual "Dive In!"
SCUBA Expo and SCUBA Equipment Swap Meet
We want to make the new Blue Hole Dive Training Center the best inland dive site in the
United States so please contact us with any ideas or input. Your purchase a 2009 annual
permit makes you a part of this history-changing process,

I got mine last week as well! It looks like from the configuration of the card and the insert that they will be keeping the card (that attaches to your gear) and then change the little laminated card for the upcoming years permits.

But, I could be wrong..... :eyebrow:

Did anyone else find it odd that they plan completion of the facility Sept 09, but don't plan a Ribbon Cutting Celebration until Oct 10, 13 months later? But then, I see the Grand Opening is in Apr 10, som maybe the Oct 2010 should be Oct 2009??

I just my pass today. Same letter you got and another note saying sorry for the delay and telling me to put the card in the holder. Of course the card was too big to fit and needed trimming.

I spoke with Richard this weekend. Told me that the Army Corp was gonna build a new pond of some sort for divers to do weight checks in, that they could also use to wade on in to the hole. He then stated that because of this work the "new building" would not open until sometime next summer.

I took this all to mean that nobody really knows anything. Stella seems happy in her little cubby for now, it is what it is I guess.

yeah no doubt she doesn't miss pumping water out of her work place anymore.:)
