The springs are a bulletproof replacement for the rubber fin straps. Aside from being robust they are also easy to get on and off with heavy gloves on and are a shade negative (150-200 grams) which makes them a possible alternative for small ankle weights (especially combined with heavy fins) if you have a "feet up" trim problem.....

R..

yes... you replace the standard straps with a "coil" of springs, usually with a
plastic or rubber heel cover.

they are indestructible and so easy to slip on and off taht you'll ever wonder
why you ever used anything else.

out of the blue, here's a DIY fin spring kit: http://www.mid.uk.com/fins/

I was told there was guy who sold spring straps on eBay for a very reasonable price. When I looked today I didn't see his ad.

Still in the business?

Ask Boogie711, he usually has a supply or a production run up and coming, he also sells them on ebay. I think they are around $37? You can make your own for around $30-32 or buy them ready made from somewhere like LP for around $45-50.

OK, thanks.

Yeah, that's me. I just haven't put them on E-Bay for the last week or so. They're cheaper if you go through my website anyway, since I don't have to give E-Bay their money.
