what sort of filters are useful with underwater photography? which ones are commonly used and what do they do?

what kind of camera and housing do you have?

Where do you dive?

Hy Matt!
As much as I know, with the system you're shooting, you will only use filter systems like Alex Mustard's "Magic Filters" (http://www.magic-filters.com/). And that means only when you shoot with ambience light. In the rest of situations, you'll use your strobes (and there you know which is the color temperature output). UR Pro offers also color correction filters (http://www.urprofilters.com/), but I think they're much more developped for UW Video or Point&Shoot Cameras.
Never been at Coco's, but as far as I've read and friends have explained, the underwater visibility is not that good (not to compare with Bahamas, of course!). That means lot of Backscatter! And that probably will lead you to switch off your strobes many times. The problem with filters inside the housing is that you can't take them off, if you decide to use the strobe... Don 't know if there's something like a Wet Magic Filter for DSLR Housings you can take off... (maybe an idea for Alex?).
Hope it helps a little.
