Hello everybody,

I'm building a fill station with 3x50l bank tanks. So...the question is - is there a problem if the compressor and the bank tanks are far from the filling panel, and if it is - how long is the maximum length for the high pressure guides (they will be metal).?!

Thank you

Your line will impose a pressure drop at a particular flow rate. Start by picking a desired flow rate, line size, init pressure and line run length, then input this info into the following calculator:

Compressed Air Pipe Lines - Online Pressure Drop Calculator

If you see a pressure drop that is a large percentage of your initial line pressure, then you should probably upsize the line diameter until you find the right combination.

Using the above calculator, 1/4 tube and 140 litres per minute delivery at 150Bar PMV setting, it works out to be just over half a bar if the run of 1/4 tube was 100 metres. For 10 metres, it was .07 of one bar - so no real concern at all. I had to go 150 metres to lose 1 bar of pressure...... The higher your final output pressure, the less pressure loss there is, so your PMV setting it your starting point.

Your compressor output is also a major factor, so if you have 140 litres per minute and a 150m run, then you lose 1 bar, 200 lpm = 2 bar, 300 lpm = 4 bar.
