A very bad and very bumpy road is the only option as far as I know. Gets torn to hell from all the Fiji Water trucks rain and whatnot, and gets little maintenance. It doesn't look super far on a map, but it will take a at least a few hours because you won't average more than 25-30mph much of the time.

I recall the one time I stayed and dove at another resort very near Voli Voli back in 2009 we hired a van with a trailer to carry us and all our luggage. The roads broke one of the trailer's wheels on the return journey and we had to wait for a replacement to arrive. We luckily left plenty early so didn't miss the flight.
I just came back from there in August 2025. The road is in good condition at the time. Maybe it being repaired recently.

I highly recommend Volivoli. I've been there 3 times in 15 months. They can put together a dive package, including all your meals and the transfers. It's roughly two and a half hours to get to Volivoli from the airport.

I did not have a good experience at Paradise Taveuni in April 2024. Folks here on SB recommend Taveuni Dive Resort. I require air conditioning and Taveuni Dive Resort does not have A/C. FWIW, PT is for sale.

Thanks a bunch guys! We were able to secure stays in both TDR and Volivoli Beach resort and their transfers to/from.
Thanks for the advice and we're looking forward to wonderful time (excluding drive connections 😉).

I'd like to tag along with a question...I'm headed to Voli in June, 2026 and had a question of money exchange. I had an unconfirmed report of "No ATM'S" anywhere and "Good luck with credit cards".

Can anyone tell me if the bar and gift shop take plastic? U.S. dollars or would it be best to get some Fiji dollars prior to the trip?

Thank you,
Jim

There are ATMs at the airport. I have used them and work fine. Just make sure you look at the card reader to make sure a skimmer device is not attached. You really don't need any Fiji dollars unless you're doing a shopping stop on the way to the resort to pick up snacks, soda, chips, etc. There is a universal 3.5% credit card fee on the island. Volivoli takes credit card or Fiji cash. No USD.
