Hi, I am a newbie here so appologise if this question has already been asked somewhere but I really need some help.

I was planning on spending 2 weeks in the Yasawas at the end of Jan begininng of Feb but have heard mixed reports about the diving there.

Has anyone dived in this area and is it worthwhile. I am a backpacker and so can't afford anything too expensive.

Plus, does anyone know what the weather/vis will be like. I have heard rumours that it is cyclone season then!

Any help would be great.

if backpacking thru the Yasawas, this site might help http://www.awesomefiji.com/nee_default.aspx you can buy a pass and island hop thru the Yasawas

we dived Octopus Resort/Yasawas last june and wont recommend it and wont return.. but i have heard they upgraded their boat and have new owners so hopefully they improved. the place was clean and cheap and food ok (i lost weight because its a set menu thing so that was a good thing). buy comfort food while in nadi and take it with you to save lots of money.

some of the backpackers on the island were island hopping and having a great time so best of luck.

Cyclone season in Fiji is typically January-March, the weather starts to get worse sometime in November and often there are one or two cyclones per season.
