I'm planning a week on the Fiji Aggressor in August. My wife wants to tag along, so I now need to figure out a plan that works for her too. Thought we would go for two weeks, spending the first week together on land and she would be on her own the 2nd week while I am on the boat.

Wondering if anyone can make recommendations about places to stay the two weeks. I'm thinking of maybe one of the posher island resorts the first week and maybe something on Viti Levu the 2nd week.

Any personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I also would be interested in doing some dives while staying on land - so that could also be factored into your advice.

Hi OCPaul

The non-diving spouce eh? Can be a bit of a dilemma - thats why my girlfriend is taking her Open Water course this weekend!:D

There are lots of resort options in Fiji - all the most charming ones being off the main island. I guess it depends on two things: your budget and what interests your spouse.

Koro Sun resort is a pretty good mid range option - close to the thriving and interesting harbour town of Savusavu. Plenty of non-diving activities around there. Namale Resort is superdeluxe and also in the same area - owned by self-help guru Tony Robbins - and they have lots of spa and health treatments there among other things.

For a more simple 'relax with a good book, swim in the sea, have a mosey around the local village' style weeks - then how about one of the resorts on Taveuni or Kadavu (where the Aggressor doesn't visit) - Kadavu Matana Resort is a nice mid range option with a good beach and Kadavu is a very natural island worth exploring.

Hope that helps. Useful link here if you want any more info http://www.divetheworldfiji.com/fiji-diving-resorts.htm

Rep Diver,

Thanks so much for the reply. I was thinking that I wasn't doing to hear from anyone. It is great that someone from Fiji actually replied!!!

I will review the suggestions you offered up and let you know if I have more questions.

I don't have specific recommendations as I have not gone on my trip yet (1 week and two days!!), and we are travelling pretty budget-style, but in my research I have found reference to many, many non-diving activities in Fiji that I think sound fascinating. A lot of resorts have kayak trips, guided hikes, trips to villages, will teach you local cooking, about indigenous crops, etc. In fact, I don't know how I'm going to manage to squeeze everything in.

I have found the Moon handbook extremely helpful, as well as some of the Fiji travel sites. Have a great trip!

JK47,

Hope your trip is great!
