Anyone up in northwest Fla have any info on what is going on with Buckeye trying to pipe toxic waters out to the ocean?? I looked on the internet and found a lot of old stuff but nothing current. I'm interested if buckeye will purify it's discharge water. I would be shocked if at this day and age they were allowed to pump directly to the ocean.
In case anyone is interested, the Buckeye pulp mill (I drove a logging truck to this facility for about 9 months) has polluted the Fenholloway river for a long time. The river discharges into a pristine area of the ocean. Apparently it's permits ran out and were not renewed and there plans were to pipe the water directly to the ocean. When I left in March 06, a new powerplant had been approved and wanted some or all of buckeyes discharge water.
This area is gorgeous, 105 miles of mostly untouched coastline, kayak country definitely.
