Hi There Was Wondering If Someone Could Explain The Ripcord System In The Zeagle Zena, So There Are Not Intregated Weights??? And How Comfortable It Is Im 5,2 And Have A Short Torso, Is It Going To Ride Up On Me????

The ripcord system is how would dump weights from the integrated weight pockets on the Zena. You load and unload the weights by unzipping the pockets, only pulling the ripcord in the event of an emergency when you'd want to drop your weights (out the bottom of the pockets). The Zena even has rear tank weight pouches as well so you can really get your weights distributed properly for perfect trim.

Keep in mind that Zeagle BCs are modular in design, which means you can mix and match sizes of the different components to get a perfect fit. The most important thing to remember when fitting a Zeagle BC is that they ride rather low (compared to other brands), which means in the Zena that you loosen all of the straps, pull the BC down, and tighten the straps from the BOTTOM up, with the shoulders being last. This puts the middle straps at your waist and you'll find that the Zena will never shift or move on your body once adjusted and tightened correctly.

I've been diving a Zena for over 4 years and have never had it ride up on me, nor does it ever shift regardless of whether I'm diving an AL 80 or a Steel 100 tank. I actually find that once my Zena is adjusted at the beginning of my dive that I never have to think about my BC again until the end of my dive when I'm taking my gear off.

Besides trying a Zena, you might also consider trying the Zeagle LaZer. It's a wing style BC like the Zena, but has the more traditional cumberbun fit than the corset style that is the Zena. One thing is for sure, you can't beat the quality of construction or customer service that is Zeagle. :D

DiveMaven hits on all the points that made me choose a Zena.

During Ocean Fest April 2008 in Ft. Lauderdale, I brought a Zena after a day of diving in yet another ill fitted rental BC. I was frustrated with constantly pulling down my rental BC during a dive as it rode up my torso, or shifted, regardless of how tight or snug it felt on the boat.

I have only done two dives in my Zena, one was a wreck dive The Rebel which was my deepest dive to date 107 ft, where we encountered wicked currents on the anchor line yet the Zena never shifted nor rode up my torso. The other dive was a calm reef dive and during both dives I did not have to adjust the Zena once I was in the water. I'm a newbie to this whole diving world and had never even heard of Zeagle until I tried on their BCs in the store.

I'm headed to Costa Rica for a week of diving during the July 4th weekend. I hope to get advanced OW certified and to take my Zena out for a ride.

Best of luck with the BC you eventually decide to purchase.

Thank you so much for the info girls for I have over 100 dives in a ill fitting bc and now have ordered a zena after reading so Many Great Comments about it, i am so short and am constantly pulling my bc away from my ears, no matter how tight, so this is my dream bc sounds like, headed to bonaire so will give it a good test.. Thanks for all the info..

Congrats on your purchase. If you didn't have the opportunity to try one on before you ordered, make sure that when you try it on at home that your straps only tighten about 1/2 way in your normal wetsuit. If you find that you have to tighten the straps all the way down, you'll have to swap something out. The vest, front panel, and shoulder section are all modular and can be swaped for a different size.

Thanks so much for all your advice, our LDS does not carry womens stuff at all so we are always just wondering... so that is why I ordered it myself.. Thank you so much for all your advice.. will keep you posted,have check outs this wknd, for my husband divemaster class so will give it a test dive :}

My wife is 5'3", and has had her Zena for the past four years. She's never had it ride up, never created an issue, has experienced typical Zeagle reliability, has had it on deep wrecks, quarries, shallow reefs, etc.

She uses the integrated weight pockets, and has never had a trim issue. She's never had to use the emergency ripcord release, however, she certainly knows how should the need arise.

She dives a 63cuft tank at home (she sips air), and a typical Al 80 on the road. She's equally comfortable in both, and likes the dual cam bands on the Zena.

Congrats on your purchase... Judging by my wife's experience, and others I've talked with, you'll love it.

I just picked up my new Zena yesterday. I am trying it for the first time this weekend. I am recently certified and already I have had enough of those horrid rental BCDs!

ooh, I'm so excited for you. Let me know what you think afer your weekend dive.

I bought a Zena several years ago based on recommendations on this board. It is the BEST equipment purchase I have made in my 5 years of diving. It never rides up, it fits snug and compact and its very intuitive to use. I cannot recommend this BC enough.
