This can be a two parter. My favorite Abing spot is seperate from my favorite dive spot.

Pt Lobos is so serene above and below plus numbers are limited.

My second favorite spot is sitting on the wall out towards the gate at Breakwater during SI on summer weekends. This never fails to entertain . If you spend an hour or more you can almost always spot a needed rescue. For instance on Sunday I spot this middle aged out of shape lady clinging to the rocks. Since she is in no apparent danger I waited a couple of minutes before asking if she was OK. She wasnt. :11: Seems her buddies let her swim in alone because she was too tired to go any further. Lo and behold she was also too tired to get in through the kelp and surge.

So I call out to nearby divers already near her in the water to help her in. One gentleman starts to swim towards her and then stops and asks in an irritated voice: She's not with a class is she? Fortunately for her she wasnt or I guess she was on her own. When satisfied she wasnt he proceed to do a very professional job of bring her in. ;)

Anything in the outer Point Lobos area, and the Pinnacles in particular. (haven't done the Whalers Cove area yet!)

Dang, just thinking about it makes me want to go right now!

Whaler's cove in Pt Lobos, and N monastery beach, 2 great dive spots!!! Only been to Lobos once, so that my take over as my lone favorite

For a nice shallow dive the south side of Monastery is real nice.
I do like the north side a bit better though.

"The Pinnacles" is in the north end of Carmel Bay, not Pt.
Lobos. There are pinnacles (small P) in Bluefish Cove at
Pt. Lobos, and they are great. They have individual names:
The Great Pinnacle, Marco's Pinnacle, ...

We need to rename these, with a better name.

There are probably a billion "pinnacles" in the oceans of the world. And hundreds off the Carmel coast.

A better name would probably be "The Carmel Point Pinnacles" or "The Pebble Beach Pinnacles."

Who the heck is marco? Marco Polo??
