If you're looking for an safe and attentive dive guide who loves to be in the water, knows where to find all the critters, and has his own boat, Pingo from Pingo's Scuba Center is the only choice. My wife and I dove with Pingo when he was with Palancar Divers and knew we got lucky to have him assigned to us. Over the course of our trip. we got to be friends with PIngo and stayed in touch.
On our return trip in March of 2012, Pingo had gone out on his own and we booked a week long trip with two other divers. Over the course of seven days, we did 22 dives (7 of them night dives) with Pingo. Pingo picked us up at our hotel pier every morning on his spacious and comfortable boat that was well stocked with drinks and snacks. After two secluded and long morning dives at a location of our choosing, Pingo would drop us off back at the pier and make plans to pick us up for an afternoon or night dive. We were always the only group in his boat, had plenty of room, dictated our own dive sites and could do as many dives as our computers would allow.
Over the course of our trip, we dove just about every dive site and saw more critters than we could handle. Pingo's love of the water and desire to ensure that you have a good time and leave satisfied is obvious the minute you he picks you up on the dock. Not only is he a safe and skilled dive guide, but you are guaranteed to leave his boat laughing!
I can't say enough about the wonderful experience we had diving with Pingo and can't wait to return next year to dive with him again. At his price, you can't afford to dive with any other guide on the island. Aside from guiding us on amazing dives, he also gave us a quick tour of downtown, introduced us to his grandson and took us to the best street tacos we've ever had.
