Who would be interested in a beach lobster bake on one of the next weekends?

I found out that the town of Rockport issues permits for beach fires.

Now, as the temperatures get more chilly we could meet at one of the beach sites on Cape Ann, make a fire, do some dives and bake and consume the harvest right there.

The whole preparations are not very efficient for just one or two people, plus we need some 'surface support' to keep the fire going. If the catch is lousy we can always cheat and send a car to Roy Moore.

Can I have a show of hands of who is interested, what weekend, site preferences, and how many attendees?

Next weekend would actually be a good idea. If the idea is to hand catch, we're going to need someone with a license to keep the authorities off our backs.

If next weekend is possible, then I would have 3 going up to dive.

I have a Mass Lobster License and the daily limit of 15 should feed a couple of folks.

The divers without license can scout and point out lobsters worth catching. As long as you do not molest the lobsters without a license you are legal.

Last weekend, I dove with a girl that was afraid to touch the lobsters and it was actually pretty efficient to have 2 sets of eyes for one catch bag.

What day are you planning to drive up from CT?

For the coming weekend we have to keep an eye on the Nor'easter that may develop. If the bake happens at all this weekend, it will be a short-notice event on Sunday.

As far as location, I am leaning towards Pebble Beach due to the abundant parking options. Lobstering is supposedly good on the rock reef and Loblolly Cove and Cape Hedge can be reached easily.

Does anyone have a better suggestion?

I may be interested, I'll check this thread as the weekend approaches.

I was thinking Saturday the 23rd. It gives people enough time to get their act together before hand, and it's a Saturday night which can't be beat! The water is going to be crappy considering the storm for this weekend IMO.
