Anyone know where to get a face pin spanner for use in removing/replacing dive computer batteries, such as on Suunto Zoop, Cobra, Vyper ? I have a face pin spanner I bought years ago with larger dia pins on one side for reg covers, etc. and smaller dia pins on the opposite side that work perfect for dive computers. Internet searches not very helpful. Northeast Scuba Supply seems to have one with the smaller dia (.78mm) pins only. Anyone use these?

I've never had a problem using a small screwdriver and careful pressure. You should almost be able to open it with your thumbs

I've opened many with only my thumbs but sometimes with some models (I had a Sherwood this morning) it just doesn't want to give with just thumbs and the pin holes are very small. The convenience of a face pin spanner is worth it's weight in gold.

I bought one from eBay, look in watch battery removal tools. Mines super adjustable......$4.

I'm pretty happy with the Face Spanner of XS Scuba (TL135),

• Adjustable range is 0.25” to 2.5” flat surface
• Pin height = 0.15” / Pin diameter 0.07”
• Fits most manufacturer’s first stages

Dealer Price 6,50 US$

Scubatools offers them for 21,50US$

Small Face Spanner 16-075-500
with 0,075 Diameter
:)

My first was a piece of oak with two small bolts through it spaced to fit the pin holes. Not too pretty but functional, I'd send a picture but I'm moving and, since I eventually got the proper tool, it is in a box somewhere.

Needle Nose Pliers or a set of snap ring pliers can work in a pinch.

Good luck,

+1 for 2 small nails (brads) in a piece of wood in a pinch.
