I am in the market for my first own tanks. I was contemplating about some PST119, but I found this threat where adssupply offers LP95 for $190, which is I believe way less than what a PST119 would cost when they will be available again.

My questions are:
1. I do mostly boat dives in NJ. Is a LP95 a good choice for that?

2. The tanks would ship without the valves attached. Do I need to get a new vis and O2 clean for the tanks?

I dive Faber LP95. Had 2 before I saw the same deal and so I picked up 1 more. It came promptly and was in perfect condition. Got them put together at my local shop. I'd do it again.

Good luck

UWSojourner,

Thanks for the info.
How much did your LDS charge you for putting together the tankt? Did you get it o2 cleaned?

The charge wasn't much (maybe $25?). I don't dive mixes over 40%, but my understanding is that new Faber tanks are ready for that (as long as you aren't doing partial pressure filling).

Under 40%, no special preparations are required, but since the majority of nitrox fills are partial-pressure type fills (fill to a certain psi of pure O2 then add air), it's not a bad idea to get your tank O2 cleaned.

I've dove an LP95 a few times in lakes, and I love not using a weight belt in fresh water. Also, I like how they are smaller and lighter than an AL80. It will take a second to get used to having a tank that's more negative (ie you might feel a little top-heavy at first), but after that it's smooth sailing.

Faber tanks will be shipped O2 clean IF you order them that way. They ship with a plastic plug to keep contaminants out of the tank.
