So my girlfriend is interested in buying a bc and we've been looking at a lot of different models. She really is interested in something simple, and really likes the express tech deluxe. Basically she just wants to know what other women think about the harness, how it fits, if she should get the pad kit to go with it, etc. Any advice would help, thanks.

Hi mate,

I'm not chick but can certainly confirm that the express tech is unisex. two straps around the shoulders one at the waist. nothing on the chest and if you install the weight pockets nothing sticking on the hips.

May I suggest that if it is going to be her everyday bc she tries proper aluminium back plate and wing.

I'm female and dive with the express tech. I use it for warm water diving. Mine has a chest strap which you can move up and down on the shoulder straps. I did put the back pad on, but do not have any padding on the shoulder straps. This is the most comfortable bc I have ever dove with. My weight tends to fluctuate a lot, this bc is one size fits all so I never have to worry about out growing it. If you don't need the weight of a traditional bp wing I would definately recomend this bc.
Happy diving:)

I don't dive an Express Tech, instead a Zena, but I can say that I do strongly recommend anything Zeagle. However, what I would also strongly recommend is that your girlfriend TRY any BC she is considering before she buys. Fit and comfort is the most important thing and varies greatly person to person.

As an example, I find bare nylon straps to be uncomfortable as they tend to cut into my body so I prefer something a bit padded and more finished on the edges. The funny thing is that the bare nylon straps didn't bother me until I had a tank on, making them pull and cut...both in and out of the water. Other people obviously don't have the same problem.

My best advice is always TRY before you buy and never buy simply off of anyone's recommendations. That's a good place to start looking and trying, but we're all a bit different, so trying things on and if you can, in water, is your best insurance.
