Hello everyone,

I’m Marouane, a PADI Staff Instructor based in the small coastal village of Belyounech, northern Morocco. My wife and I recently opened a dive center here called Chems Diving, and I wanted to share a bit about the area for those interested in exploring Mediterranean diving off the beaten path.

Belyounech offers calm, warm waters, great visibility in the summer months, and a rich underwater environment that’s still quite undiscovered by many divers. We cater to all levels—from beginners trying scuba for the first time (kids from 8 years old and up!) to experienced divers looking to explore new sites.

If anyone is considering diving in Morocco or just curious about this part of the Mediterranean, feel free to ask questions or reach out. I’m happy to share insights, dive conditions, and tips to help you plan a great trip.

Safe diving!

Interesting indeed. I always wondered about diving in Morocco especially in the Atlantic side.

You know, it's really interesting that you're curious about diving in Morocco's Atlantic side. It certainly offers a unique adventure, often characterized by more dynamic conditions, potentially larger pelagic species brought in by those strong ocean currents, and some fascinating historical wrecks. It's a completely different kind of underwater landscape compared to other regions. However, it's important to clarify that Chems Diving doesn't currently operate on the Atlantic coast. While we recognize the appeal of that region, our focus and expertise lie elsewhere at the moment. We primarily operate out of Belyounech, on Morocco's Mediterranean side, where we offer a distinct and equally captivating diving experience. The Mediterranean here provides clearer, calmer waters, and a rich array of marine life in a truly beautiful coastal setting.

I live and dive in Libya, will your side of the Mediterranean be much different from the Tripoli Libya side?

The diving there sound really great. I would love to visit sometime. What is the usualy water temp? I used to scuba diving in Bohol, so the water is very warm all year.

In northern Morocco, especially in Belyounech on the Mediterranean side, the water temperature does vary throughout the year. During the main diving season, which is typically July and August, the sea temperature usually ranges between 22°C to 26°C (around 72°F to 79°F).

Earlier in the season, like in May or June, the water can be cooler, around 18°C to 21°C (64°F to 70°F), and by late September or October it begins to cool down again.

While it's not quite as warm as tropical destinations like Bohol, many divers find it comfortable with a 5mm wetsuit during summer months. The visibility is often excellent, and the calmer conditions of the Mediterranean make it ideal for photography, training, and relaxed exploration dives.

Hey!

I was looking for information about diving in Morocco some time back when we were browsing holiday destinations. Couldn't find much, great to hear if something new is being set up.

Maybe you should list some of the dive sites to your website to give a rough idea of what kind of dives are available, and what to expect if someone comes to dive with you. Would be good to know what kind of marine life, depths, currents etc are to be expected. Wrecks, walls, drifts, caves, ....?

Also, I'm not sure what's the story of the photos on your website. Are they from your dives or dive sites in Morocco? Or some general stock photos that you got license to use but not even from Mediterranean? Or random nice looking photos you found from the internet?

This photo on your site https://chemsdiving.com/assets/images/photo-1563142746-c1c670ea5c3a.jpeg can also be seen on Getyourguide for diving in Sri Lanka https://cdn.getyourguide.com/image/...ight=400,dpr=2/tour_img/55c0a8eac19eff8d.jpeg I don't know which destination is valid if either.

This photo from your site https://chemsdiving.com/assets/images/photo-1544551763-46a013bb70d5.jpeg can also be found here https://www.namesnack.com/images/na...-20200917.jpeg?crop=2:1,smart&width=730&dpr=2

I didn't bother to check rest of the photos, but they don't really look like photos from a fresh dive shop. If they're actually from your dive sites, I see nice potential for your business. If they're not from your dive sites at all, would be a shame if someone decides to come diving based on those photos and expects to see similar on their dives.

Actually even the photo from customer testimony of Pierre Moreau https://chemsdiving.com/assets/images/photo-1596646285603-e5f9bbfa524a.jpeg can be found here Photo by Ilse Stokking on Unsplash I wonder if the testimonies are from actual customers then?
