I just looked up Dec 12-19 and my cost would be $1300 Cdn per person. Looks like there's much better pricing on your side of the border these days, which is often the case. Have a great time and let us know how you feel about it compared to the Grand.

I don't think things like that help here in Canada but I may be wrong. I've never tried it & when I head for Coz I prefer to go with Air Canada because they fly me to / from Toronto for a token fee, and then it's direct from Toronto to Coz & back. Any other airline to date has made me get to Toronto on my own or at a high flight cost with another carrier. That may change now because Westjet is finally flying to Cozumel, but so far they aren't offering vacation packages for Coz but they are for the Mayan Riviera.

I just tried the code and it says it's not eligible. Round trip travel time including transfer time / layovers is 42+ hours and I'd end up with a 6 night stay. NO WAY. $917 US per person but there is a warning that one flight charges for all luggage & that price isn't included.

Thanks for posting the pictures. My wife and I are leaving for the Iberostar on 11-29 to 12-6, 2009. Looks like a great place to stay! Would you recommend using their dive shop or something off site? Wife will enjoy beach while I dive.

I've never dove with Alison but hope to some day; she has an excellent reputation. I did however dive with Dressel on both of my stays at the Iberostar and frankly other than the fact they are a bit overpriced they treated me quite well. I had enough experience that I was always grouped with other divers & a DM that all knew what they were doing & we dove our tanks (on the morning dives) rather than a time table. Afternoon dives are timed due to time limitations due to the schedule plus the same DM's from morning dives do the afternoon dives.
One of the benefits of using Dressel is that they are so close to the reefs that the boat return to the resort after the 8:30 dive allowing a late breakfast, or a second one on most days. This also allows a bathroom break etc, as you have 20 or more minutes between arrival & departure for the second dive of the morning. One other benefit is that they have an assortment of boats so on those days when the winds are up and the small boats can't leave the harbour Dressel may still be taking divers out.
A downside is that you pay up front, and larger dive packages lower the price, but NO REFUNDS. If you can't complete the number of dives you've paid for you get a credit note for use on another trip, which I assume will be usable at any Iberostar resort that has a Dressel Dive Shop. To the best of my knowledge that is still the policy, but I may be wrong so ask if considering a multi day package. You can book & pay on line and it used to get a 15% discount, and I always received a 10% discount for cash. No discounts for credit cards, and they weren't very flexible on prices even with a 20 tank package & cash.
Larry.
