We've never heard of an inspection tax. In eleven trips, we have only paid the departure tax of $34.??. If someone asks you to pay an inspection tax, question it. It just might be your travel agent in disguise (JOKING).

There used to be a box right there for the Clinica Esperanza. If it is still there, drop in your leftover lemps, they usually amount to less than a US Dollar. The clinic is a legitimate operation, Miss Peggy does a lot for the island.

We leave for AKR in 2 weeks (YAAAAY!!!). Does anyone have more current experience with the departure tax since late June? I am wondering if it is still the same at 34.04 per person or if there have been any changes.

My travel agent told me to set aside $35.00 for the departure tax PLUS $5.00 for an inspection tax. Has anyone experienced a $5.00 charge for an inspection tax?

I don't know, but do let us know something when you get back, my fiancee and I are going to Cocoview in about a month.

I paid $34.04 the last week of July. I doubt your travel agent knows of any changes since then.

We just came back from Roatan last week. The exit tax was $68.08 for two people if you have the exact change. If not, it is $69.00 and they keep the change. Bet that adds up after a while, considering the number of people going through and paying in dollars.

There was no additional $5 tax.

Ditto. International departure tax was $34.04 in mid-July, rounded up to next dollar if you don't have change ($35 for one, $69 for two, etc.). No inspection tax.

Incidentally, for domestic departures (e.g. SAP-RTB), it's L28.82 = $1.53 (also rounded up).
