good link to the DAN article- as with most things divign related, it depends on the situation. It's pretty daft to heavily train, or to excercise if you usually don't, but light excercise is never a prob. My last diving trip my hubby was planning for a martial arts belt test and had to stretch every day and practice, as well as do some cardio to keep up. He jsut had to be careful of his timing and not push it too hard.

triggertravel:
Does exercising (lifting weights or running) provide any risks to a diver while on a dive trip?

I find if I run on a dive trip, I blow through my tank in no time...

There is very good reason to believe that indeed it does.

I have a detailed article on this exact subject coming out in the next issue (Mar '04) of Undercurrent http://www.undercurrent.org/. Shortly thereafter I hope that it will be posted on Scubadoc's website.

Best regards.

Thank you for all your feedback. I'll save the exercising for when I'm home and not diving.

Doc, I'm looking forward to reading your article in Undercurrent next month.

Thanks again,
Will
