Going my new BC tomorrow and am trying to decide between the Excursion or the Probe LX. The only real benefit I see on the Probe are the pockets and I don't really think I will need pockets. I've never used a back inflated BC also so I'm not sure If I'll like that. I have no way of trying one either cause the store only rents jacket inflations Cressi's. Any ways, Pros/cons would be great and which one would you pick?

Thanks
James

You will need pockets.

Coulnd't I just clip my stuff on the D-rings? Basically my decision is based on back inflation or packets...which is more important.

Back Inflat are great some people dont like them because they feel like they are pushing your face in the water on the surface.

I have a probe and love it. The only draw back I can see is it is a big and relatively heavy BCD, and it takes up a lot of room when packing for a trip. I do like the four zipper pockets, two velcro pockets, mutltiple D-rings and mutiple dumps. The grommets give you another option for securing a knife. I went with the probe because I prefer jacket BCDs.

If at all possible try a back inflate BCD before you make your choice. People either hate them or love them.

You might consider the Chute 3. It was discontinued and replaced with the excursion. They are basically the same. You could probably find a real bargin. Also I like the back inflate better.

SS BP/w? stainless steel back plate with wing? Have a link so I can see what they look like?

Thanks
James

just bought a brand new Probe and lemme tell ya it is nice when structure diving ..

Tons of rings.. all around A= unit

I am a XXL guy and the pickens are slim when it comes to big guy fitability

Yup, I'm getting the (all oceanic) Probe LX, Delta 4 reg, Pro plus 2 computer, and the air XS octo/inf.. For the computer I may get the Veo 250 instead.
