From a pure comfort standpoint I don't think there is any comparision between the maximus and a scubapro. The sherwood is head and shoulders more comfortable to wear, breath and use. I switched from a SP to the maximus and I have never had any problems with the maximus. The first stages are bullet proof, you can get them serviced just about anywhere in the world, probably you could go to the antartic and find a penguin who could do the service on one if you really needed it. I find the under arm routing to be a great feel and improvement. The heat retention and dry mouth removal are great also. All around I am very impressed and pleased with the sherwood.
One last thing about at least the blizzard, I have seen pics of divers (again in antartica-- that must be a really good penguin tech down there) that when they came out of the water had ice softballed sized around their 1st stages, and they were breathing prefectly fine.
