Is there a web site out there somewhere to check on equipment comparisons? I always here people talking about how this compared to that, and I will trust someones word only so far. I want to start learning to research this stuff myself. Thanks in advance.

I was just as frustrated in my research. Its not like Edmunds.com where you can compare automobiles, or Consumer Reports. Other than the Dive magazine sites like Scuba Diving magazine http://www.scubadiving.com/site/navigation/scuba_notice/ and Rodale's that did some equipment comparisons, I ended up getting manufacturer spec sheets/catalogs from the LDS and manufacturer web sites. Then I threw them into an Excel spreadsheet and compared price, sizes, and features myself.

I hope somebody else has found the kind of sites you're looking for. It would save me some time.

And just FYI - Rodales has as much respect around here as trying to get computing advice from the guy who works behind the till at your local 7-11. I can't believe some of the crap they try to write up as objective equipment reviews.

The problem with Rodale's is that they never met an advertiser's product that they didn't like ... and therefore they can hardly be called objective.

In fact, most of their reviews are nothing more than infomercials ...
