Because thats the way the dome port is designed to function. There used to be instruction son the equinox webpage about it, you can probably still find them there.

the thing is...that is not how it supposed to be right? it should be follow focus and not stuck in macro mode, is changing the dome will affect this?

ok, i just tested with my friend's dome lense and also his faceplate.....and the problem still there!
is it possible the distance between the lense and the dome causing this? if yes, maybe it has something to do with the position of the baseplate.
