If it doesn't equalize, don't force it. Two days ago on a cert dive one ear wouldn't equalize (was fine first dive). I did the right things -- stopped, backed up a few feet, tried the different methods, just wasn't gonna happen. Time to call it. Yesterday, life was good, equalized fine, a marvelous time. My instructor later told me that it just happens sometimes, particularly in cold water, multiple dives. Lesson Learned -- Go with what your body is telling you, learning to abort is important (save the macho stuff for the stories after :) Good luck!
