I have ringing in one ear after a week of live-aboard diving. It's persistent for 3 weeks and no signs of stopping. I've visited my PCP and an ENT specialist but neither one IMO has experience with diving injuries. Is there an ENT on SB that could help with questions? Please no suggestions unless you are a medical doctor.
I'm an ENT doc (pediatric ENT, but I occasionally deal with adult divers for an initial evaluation). I'm sure that you know that it's hard to say much over the Internet without an examination and an audiogram (hearing test). However, I can try to help as best as I can... feel free to PM me if you prefer.
Thanks all and especially to doctormike who PM'd me earlier. I'm looking for an ear doctor now, taking the required rest. ringing is still there but I believe the hole is healing nicely.
Hole closing nicely. ringing hasn't changed. I was asked to wait until next week, then I'll get to see the otoligist (not ent) per doctormike's recommendation. ringing may be around for a while(ever) but things could be worse. no diving planned at this point but no fire sales yet either.
