I am having a tough time with my ears. See this post.

http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=48371

Does anyone know a good ENT in the Atlanta Ga area? Or a recommendations on how to find one? Or even if I should go talk to a doctor/

I am worried about going on a checkout dive with all of these problems.

This is frustrating, especially after reading posts on this board about how others have no problems at all.

Any opinions or recommendations.

Thanks,

Getting an appointment with a "Scuba Doc" was a little harder than I thought. So far the earliest I could get an appointment is after my check out dives.

A dose of Sudfed prior to getting in the pool last night relly helped. I was able to equalize during each of the 7 decents to 12 feet. I was also able to ascend, but if I went too fast I could get that light headed feeling.

My plan now is to go ahead and complete my OW dives with the help of Sudafed and see the ENT on the 25th.

i have real bad sinuses and have to take Sudafed all year wheather i'm diving or not but if i dont take them before diving, i cant get down no matter how hard i try. my ENT wanted to cut on me several years ago but when he gave me a 50/50 chance that i might not ever dive again after he cuts, i told him no thanks.

good luck with your class, i'm sure you will do fine.

Thanks for the encouragement Steve. Sounds like you and I may have the same malady. By sinuses aren’t too bad as far as I know. But maybe they are and I maybe I don’t realize it.

Do/did you have any problems on ascent?

i have been lucky i guess, only one time i had a problem with the ascent, i just took it VERY slow and finally made it up but it wasnt fun. i went back down later that afternoon and didnt have any problems at all. hopefully you wont continue having problems. a lot of people have problems at first but the more they dive, the better it gets.
