Canadians (like me) never refer to ourselves as Americans, as citizens of the USA do. Nor do we take any offense as far as I have noticed from United States of America(n)'s doing so. Most people take the abbreviation without a problem, unless I suppose they are looking for one.

I once spent a post-grad year touring in Europe. Heaven forbid someone called a Canadian from Quebec an American.

I am a Canadian from Quebec. When having travelled and met new people, the assumption of my being an American happened from time to time. The similarity of our spoken English is generally the clue they take. An honest mistake, and never one that bothered me. It did bother me a little however the anti-Americanism that they sometimes felt at liberty to express thereafter. Still does. Tribalism is terrible.

I was born in New Mexico. The amount of times I've been asked when I moved to the US, including by teachers, just shows how bad our education system truly is.

I'm not surprised. I have cousins in Aberdeen that speak completely unintelligent gobbledygook parading as English. I have to tell them to slow down or text me.

What percentage of SB users are active? While the number of accounts are quite large (6 figures?), how many are currently active. I have noticed some people who were active, and then moving on.

I think the number of people who cause problems (including myself admittedly) is pretty small.
