I have just found this site whilst searching for some information on Punta Cana - Dominican Republic. I am a Rescue Diver, studying for DM. I first learnt to dive in Cyprus 5 years ago and since then have dived in Jamaica, Mauritius, the Seychelles and my home for the last 3 years, Long Island NY.

I have just booked a last minute holiday in Punta Cana - Club Med and they have some organized dives run from the beach to only 3 sites - only one of which sounds interesting. Does anyone have any experience of this resort or diving in general in Punta Cana - would I be better off trying a dive organization outside of the resort....

I look forward to taking an active part in these forums and thank anyone for their advice...

Cheers

David

Hery there and Welcome to Scuba Board.

It's good that you are here, beacuse I am sure all of us would like to hear what the Seychelles are like and Mauritius. I hope I will get there one day... I guess the local quarray is good enough for now.

Thank you - I will.

Mauritius and the Seychelles were awsome - I had 11 dives in Mauritius, great conditions, wonderful coral and fish. We were on our honeymoon - but I am sure the wife was happy to be rid of me for the morning so she could get some peace by the pool.

The fish in the Seychelles were the best however - rays (Eagle and Manta), turtles, white tip reef sharks, morays, 'cudas and much more - Unfortunately only got 2 dives in but a great experience.

Welcome to the board David.... lots ofvery informative forums with greay & friendly peole here.

In addition to checking the Caribbean forum, you can also try using the 'search' feature and look for Punta Cana, or DR...

As for Club Med, I have had many comments on their different properties and it has always been similar..... no middle ground people either love it or hate it. Make sure you acquaint yourself with the DM's before the actual dives. That way they will be able to better serve you according to experience and preferences.

Have a great trip and lots of safe diving,
Maria

Welcome aboard. As already stated, the carib forum can be searched for trip reports. Given the number of people here, I'm sure someone has been there. Enjoy the board.

Welcome to ScubaBoard! :happywave

I don't have an answer to your questions, but I'm sure that you'll find answers in the forum that Scott recommended. We look forward to your active participation here at ScubaBoard. It sounds like you've been to some great dive spots!

Dive safe!

Christian

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or repsond to in this forum.

Hi David

I have just taken my Open Water Course in the Dominican Republic in July with the Reputno Dive Centre, we dived on 3 separate dive sites and for me, being a beginner I loved them, but as you are a qualified rescue diver with much more expierience you may be looking for a bit more. I think that they had about 9 or 10 dive sites and I know some of them were more challenging that the ones that we dived. Anyway I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Regards

Ian
