Is the Aquatic ScubAlert supposed to sound like a horn or like a duck? I want to make sure mine is not broke...

Wish I had seen this before bidding on it. I wasn't even interested in getting one that worked underwater. Its just that this was the only one that workrd with the Air2. Oh well. Its new with original package. Gonna send it back. Thanks

Yup, mine is a quack quack. Great for underwater, but definitely not an air horn...!

I have one for the air 2 and it works very well. Underwater and out of the water. You may have the wrong one. I know mine is annoying both in the water and out. If you have a hood "7mm" you can't hear it well, probably around 10 ft "with hood" under water. Without a hood 75ft to 100ft under water. Above water, yes it does go about 1/2 a mile or so. Look at leisure pro, that's where I got mine......I use it all the time!...They do make one that works!!!

I also have the Aquatec ScubAlert. The dealer told me this one is marketed to be usable on the surface as well as underwater.
Well, it works fine underwater, but it's not much more than an annoying quack on the surface and likely not audible very far away.

I am considering one of these as well for underwater communicaton/attention getter. Just getting all my gear I picked up one of those super loud Storm whistles and there is nothing that louder than that thing. For like $5 the whistle was WAY worth it. But for underwater I am considering this. My instructor had a small tube that had something like a ball in it that worked well as an attention getter underwater that may also be pretty good and much cheaper, but I am a gadget guy so I may opt for the subduck thingy.
