Great photos. I really like your photos of the jelly and the first one with the gorgonian. It looks like a sculpture.

Wow! Excellent wide angle on the Radio Tower. Are you sure the vis was marginal? :confused:Stunning shot of the flying Pseudoceros luteus! You earned that capture, unlike some cheaters who stage their flight.

So what's the word on Merry's captures from the last two days? :blinking:

Great shots, Max.

LA-Light-Tower.jpg

Gary Fabian (UB88.org) sent me this today;

Phil,

I'm not sure, but I may have been the one responsible for naming the tower off of Pt. Fermin the "Radio Tower." Completely unintentional I can assure you.

I had a theory that the tower might be the lower half of the radio tower that used to be next to the LA light. See attached photo. Of course this is just a theory, I have no proof. Also it leaves the question as to where the other half is. I have a flimsy theory on that too. During the search for the P-51 Mustang in 2009 I identified a multibeam target that turned out to be what looks like a radio tower off Marina Del Rey. I have no clue if it has any relationship to the Fermin Tower or not. Seems doubtful considering the distance, although it does have a pointy end. If you're interested I can send you the coordinates. Then again, maybe it's too deep to be worth the trouble. It's in about 185 ft south of the Hyperion outfall.

So what is the Fermin Tower? Beats me. Your theory is as good as mine. Funny how names have a way of sticking. Similar to the "African Queen" wreck off LB, which of course is not the African Queen.

Regards,
Gary Fabian
