Hello,

Does anyone use the Sahara Ear Dryer or any other rechargeable electric ear dryer?

My wife has had a bit of a problem with an ear infection and wanted to try the ear dryer after diving.

I was wondering if it is safe? Good idea or could it make matters worse?

The one we are looking at is the Sahara Dryear at Leisurepro.com and it sells for $99.00

Thanks

$99 buys a lot of Swim-Ear and leaves some left over for q-tips

Sent off an e-mail and tried to get some specific info on the device before my recent dive trip and never heard back so I basically blew off the idea (no play on words intende). Just went with the old standby (alcohol and vinegar) rinse after every dive and never had a problem.

When I used to clean hulls I would have to dry my ears out every day from the nasty bay water. I could not afford a 100dollar ear dryer so I used a drop of rubbing alcohol and my hair dryer on cold. It works just fine. :D

Use the hair dryer in your hotel room and safe the 100 bucks for souveniers.

I love my Sahara ear dryer, been using it for close to 8-10 monts and haven't had an ear infection or swimmer's ear since I started using it. I actually use it every day after I shower and of course after diving. I got mine at LP for about $70.00 and that included the sport package which consists of a neoprene case, car charger and extra ear tips.

One of my dive buddies use this thing. We all struggle not to laugh when he whips out his ear blower. Just kidding of course! It actually got my buddy to stop cancelling dive days due to ear problems. Then again, my friend may just have been hygienically challenged in the ear department.

Mine puked-out right in the middle of the first dive.
