eh? What's with the platform hoops?

Nav'ed to the platform by the mystery wreck at Dutch. Guess its rarely visited as it was full of algae - we did some SMB work on it. But what are the four diamond hoops for? Was I supposed to bring my Quiddich gear?

They are a buoyancy control swim-through exercise. Bump one while you are going though and they tend to grab ya...

Hmmm. Seems like for anyone with buoyancy problems, this a swim through entrapment waiting to happen. Not sure why swimming around the platforms at eye level doesn't accomplish the same goal...

Easy to free yourself from...

Some notable instructors send their whole class through same while all classmates watch. I assure you, just swimming the platform is not an equivalent exercise. -note the breath rates of watchers vs. contestants.
