It's that time of week again. Time for me to remind you that the EUP is always looking for volunteers.
Come join us and Dive!
I’m back in town and I’ll be volunteering at the Edmonds Underwater Park this weekend. It’s easy, meet us at the Edmonds UW Sports at 9 AM, Saturday and Sunday. If no one is at the store on Sunday, then check at the park. Bruce Higgins drives a distinctive red pickup which is always full of dive gear, lift drums and items for the park. The Edmonds UW Sports store is a great supporter of this effort and donates airfills for the park volunteers.
Show up, learn to do something underwater, get some exercise, and enjoy the camaraderie of some great people who are making a difference in Puget Sound.

Help support your local diving community, come join the volunteers. Work dives are held every Saturday and Sunday @ 9:00.

Projects this year have included:
> the Split Shot, a fiberglass boat was loaded with thousands of lbs of concrete and placed about 40 feet North of the intersection of Jetty Way and Telegraph Way.
> The extention of the new trail (Erratic Way) all the way out to Boundary Way and beyond, this has taken a lot of cinder blocks and a mile or two of rope.
> lifting Jetty Way out of the sand - it's a continual battle to dig it out the section extending from the Rock Jetty out to Telegraph Way. It's an annual task.
> re-inforcing Jetty Way with multiple rock piles to make the trail more visible in low visibility and increase marine habitat - the fish love it.
> moving tons of rock and building additional rock piles near Erratic Way and the Reef Balls
> placing additional buoys in the park to designate the cautionary zone and make the Park a safer place to dive
> reworking trails, laying more rope, building new features
> last weeks project was building a plastic pipe bridge extending from the bottom up to the top of the Cathedrals....
> replacing the buoy on the Edmonds Fishing Reef
These projects and many, many more have been taking shape at the EUP. Come out and join us..... Any Saturday or Sunday, 9:00 AM at the Edmonds Underwater Sports store. All divers of any skill level are welcome, no "work diver" cert card is required! :D

I will be there Saturday, come out and join the fun....

Hmmm, do ya think we could get PADI to create a "Work Diver" certification?

Come join us at the EUP. Volunteers for the Edmonds underwater park are always needed. Meet us at 9 AM at the Edmonds Underwater Sports store. If we are not at UW Sports, we will be at the Park. Basic Scuba certification and gear required! Experience is not required, I started volunteering at the park two months after I started diving and I've been volunteering there off and on for the last 9 years.

Unfortunately volunteers for the park, in this region of 3.8 million people, are few and far between. Saturdays there are typically 2 to 4 volunteers, Sundays are typically just Bruce, or Bruce and a single volunteer. Come out on any weekend, join us and support one of the best divesites in Puget Sound.

Bruce Higgins drives a distinctive red pickup which is always full of dive gear, lift drums and items for the park. The Edmonds UW Sports store donates airfills for the park volunteers.
Current projects include laying out concrete blocks and threading rope to extend a trail. finding, lifting and moving concrete arches with the lift drums, etc.
The vis is great right now, and the park is a fantastic place to enjoy the kelpbeds and marine life.
Show up, learn to actually do something underwater, get some exercise, and enjoy the camaraderie of some great people who are making a difference in Puget Sound.

My husband and I will be happy to volunteer, but now the hard part. I have racing commitments until July 29th. After that I am sure we could carve out a couple of days to come help support the efforts.

The volunteer schedule is very easy.
9:00 AM Every Saturday and Sunday at the Edmonds Underwater Sportsstore.
No coordination required, no e-mail notification circle, no advance notice of any type required. Show up and help out, your efforts will be appreciated!

Any topside help needed? I don't think my ankle is strong enough to dive with yet, but I might be able to contribute in some other manner..
