So i've finally got my hands on my Canon A610 and the WP-DC90 housing.

First impressions -

  • Camera is well built, great lcd, very intuitive and quite easy to work with.
  • Even with the stock 16 SD card it's responsive in regards to reviewing and taking pictures, haven't tried out the video functions yet though.
  • Lots of manual options and room for me to expand creatively with it.
  • Nice focus/AF light?, lag time from shot to shot is quite bearable, certainly sub second even with the flash enabled.
  • 4x optical zoom comes in handy when framing shots.
As to the housing (WP-DC90), my first impressions were that it is rather brightly colored, we're talking kids toys color here :D.

Plus side is that I can never foresee myself misplacing it.
All functions are accessible with the Canon housing.
Housing ships with a diffuser plate and LCD hood which I thought were a nice touch.
Also ships with a pint sized tube of silicon grease, lots of straps and dangly bits, o-ring is a bright yellow, notice a trend here?
I also appreciated the fairly comprehensive manual that shipped with the housing, it's a nice complement to Canon's Bebit Underwater photography webpages.

Anyway won't have a chance to dive with it until January, but for now i'm ecstatic and quite happy to join the u/w photography club :D :14:.

Be careful with silicon grease, don't put much of it (it's better not to have enough than have too much). btw can diffuser plate be detached? the front part of the case looks quite strange and I'm not sure Inon will make an adapter for such a beast (and I wan't to keep my addon lenses)...

As for the colours, they are quite typical and you'll get used to it...

Yep, the diffuser can be detached. The gray thing around the port is part of the diffuser and it snaps onto the port. I too am beginning to worry about Inon making an adapter. Ikelite is supposedly going to release a housing for the a620 by january but you know they charge big bucks for those housing.

Congrats! My housing for my A610 just arrived too so I know just how you feel! I can't wait to get this puppy in the water!
