Eastern NC dive locations

Hello all, I have been diving for over 2 years now, and have been hooked since my first open water dive off the Florida Keys. My significant other suggested I learn (he's Rescue certified) so I did. It was more of a challenge for me since: I almost drowned at age 3, heart & breathing stopped for over a minute, I have ear issues, can't swim well at all (although I can float!) I am very claustrophobic, and don't (didn't) really like the water.
But, alas.....all was tested and overcome. It has been many months since my last dive and I am itching to dive again. My other half is military stationed out of state, and rarely gets long enough leave for us to get a dive in. So I am looking for locations within a few hours of New Bern, other than Rawlings, and hopefully a buddy or few to go with.
Sundays are best before NFL season starts, after that its weekday afternoons. Yea, ya guessed it....I am a COLTS fan, but I'm here to dive.

You are 45 minutes from Beaufort and Morehead City. There is some of the worlds best wreck diving right in your back yard. Check Discovery Diving in Beaufort or Olympus Diving in Morehead City...

This is true, but most of these dive sites are not for beginners. Just letting the OP know that many sites are intermediate or advanced.
