Loaded up and truckin’…

The weather’s warming up and a young man’s thoughts turn to DIVING! Let’s do a summer road trip this year. We’re going to caravan east along the Gulf Coast in July, stopping at various points to get our gills wet.

Here’s the itinerary we’re looking at:

Saturday – July 19
drive from Houston to Gulf Shores, AL (about 8 hours)
***stay in Gulf Shores - Sat/Sun/Mon nights****

Sunday - July 20
Dive the Lulu (including 2 nitrox tanks) (link)
Flora-Bama bar Sun evening

Monday – July 21
Possible shore diving – options include the Whiskey Wreck, Perdido Pass jetties, Pensacola jetties, Ft Pickens or maybe a local spring

Tuesday – July 22
Dive the Oriskany (including 2 nitrox tanks)

Return home at your leisure.

How will we get there? Carpool is most likely although we may look into other options once we get an idea of the group size.

If you'd like more information on trip costs, recommended hotels, etc please let me know.

This is gonna be a great trip! We’re capping it at 20 people, so get your name in early!

Who wants to get Eastbound and Down with us?

The market speaks and CHUM listens! People were much more interested in the first half of the EB&D trip, so we've officially shortened the trip to include the Gulf Shores dives only. Please see post #1 for the updated information.

The operator does need 10 divers for the boat to go each day, but they will be working to fill the spaces as well, so with our combined efforts, we should be able to get there.

But...we'd love to see some more CHUMmers on the list.

Who wants to join us for the new & improved Eastbound and Down?

We've adjusted the trip to be more of a long weekend rather than the full-week original version.

July's not that far away. Anybody want to join us on a Gulf Coast getaway?
