There are only two dive operators in East End - Ocean Frontiers and Tortuga Divers.

We've dived with OF numerous times and find them tops. The service is wonderful, they let you dive your computer profiles, and the diving on East End, while a bit more rugged, is spectacular.

I dove with OF this past October - terrific operation, terrific people. I have not been out with Tortuga but have read mixed reviews, most of them from veterans that felt Tortuga is far too conservative on depths, safety stops, and air.

I've only been diving for 2 years, but have over 50 dives including GC, Seychelles, Cabo, Antigua, Ontario, Monterey, and Key Largo. OF gets my vote as best op so far. They rinse, store, and carry your gear back and forth to the boat each day, all the DM's are very personable and have tremendous knowledge of all the sites, the 3-tank safari is awesome if you're there on the right day - and I could continue blathering on about it if you wanted me too :)

If you're staying at Morritt's, Tortuga Divers is very convenient. We have always had good experiences with them, but I have read posts from others who have not. Either way, have fun and enjoy the peace and quiet of the East End while it lasts. I fear that if they ever actually build the Mandarin Oriental, the peace and quiet will be a thing of the past.

Have you seen anything new on this front recently? I know it's been out there for some time, but I haven't seen anything new for awhile. The "Go East" initiative does not seem to have a lot of steam behind it. And by steam I mean $$$$.

Anyway, it looks like OF for a few am dives and back to 7 Mile to rejoin the family. Thanks for all your input.

Glad to hear you're diving OF. We'll be back on GCM next February (staying on SMB) but hope to make it out East for some OF diving.

Let us know how it goes,
DS

Hey Bill,

What's the Mandarin Oriental? I've not heard of it.

Thanks,
DS
