Hi Blawler:

MY wife and I may go to Bonaire early next year. It will be our first trip there. Can you recommend a good all inclusive resort?

Thanks

Lilycat,

Have you tried expedia.com? All kinds of choices in connections using multiple airlines. You can avoid Dallas completely if you want. I always try to avoid Dallas because their airport closes at about 7:00 p.m. and you're stuck for the night.

I'm gong to Bonaire tomorrow (yeah!) connecting through Miami and San Juan on American. It's going to take 13 hours. I hope I like Bonaire as much as Cozumel. We're staying a Buddy Dive Resort. I'll post a trip report when I get back. I just bought an underwater housing for my Coolpix and I'm going to try my hand at reef photography.

Good luck!

With plenty of good restraurants on the island and a fully stocked kitchen in our apartment, we always go for the self catered route and so I am not familiar with any exclusively all inclusive resorts on the island. I may be mistaken, but I believe some of the larger facilities like Buddys, Capt Dons, Plaza and Divi offer some kind of meal plans. Of those, Buddys, Capt Dons and Plaza are probably the nicest, but the Divi has the casino.

There's no all-inclusives in Bonaire in the classic sense with meals, drinks, sports, toga parties, etc. included. But you can get meal plans some places. Personally I wouldn't do a meal plan (other than breakfast) in Bonaire though, fairly good chance you will either not like the food at your resort or will tire of their menu within a few days. Rent a vehicle for at least part of your stay (if you weren't already to shore dive) and check out the independant restaurants and the ones at other resorts.

Blawler and Damsel:

Thanks for the information. When I asked about an AI I was only referring to 3 meals a day and non-alcoholic beverages, I should have been more specific.

And for the first of January it's over $1700 for a ticket ~!

Ouch! that's ridiculous!

Huh? Dallas's airport doesn't close at 7pm. They have flights departing
even into the late evening hours. I used to fly through dallas twice a week
and usually flew home on one that departed at 8:30pm or 8:50pm.

I've even flown on their flights into Nashville that depart at 10:30 to 10:50pm.

So they are open way past 7pm. Maybe some airlines don't have departures
after a certain time, such as 7pm, but it doesn't mean that the airport is closed.
