Doubtful...

I doubt that the Yucatan ever feels quakes - too far from the causes...
A strong earthquake measuring 6.4 magnitude struck the Oaxaca region of southeastern Mexico, officials said Tuesday.

No victims were reported immediately after the quake in the city of Tuxtla Gutierrez, but electric power was cut off in the area and several buildings were evacuated.

The US Geological Survey reported the earthquake struck at 6:50 am (1250 GMT) 60 kilometers (40 miles) northwest of Tonala, Chiapas state, and measured 6.4 on the moment magnitude scale.

Local radio reports said the quake was particularly strong here and in the areas of Chiapas, Tabasco and Puebla, where electricity and cell phone services were cut and classes were cancelled.

Television news showed traffic, while heavy, was flowing normally in the Mexico City.

It did .75 cents worth of damage.

A guestimate.

Ugh... now I bet the price of Queso Oaxaca is going to go up. :(

The article said it could be felt for 100's of miles away so I was curious since I am counting the days down until I leave for there

It's a long, long way from MexCity to the island of Coz. It'd take a pretty good roller to reach that far.

Wouldn't work. The geology of the Yucatan wouldn't transmit the shock. Quakes are transmitted by hard rock and solid soil, while that area is honeycombed with caves and sinks. Couldn't even make it to Playa del Carmen, and even if it did - couldn't transmit under the channel well - or kick up a good tsunami in the crossing. Doubt that Coz has felt a quake in lonnng time.

But I understand the OP's feelings. First trip to Coz, don't want anything to go wrong.
