School of Eagle Rays

This wonderfully wet and rainy trip got off to a bumpy start, with a rougher than usual crossing. Eagle rays are common to Cocos, but prior to this trip, we had been wondering where they'd gone. So we were all thrilled to encounter these beautiful rays on almost every dive this week!

Punta Maria was awesome for Galapagos shark action, and over at Manuelita we saw our fair share of eagle rays, marble rays, whitetips, turtles, frogfish and even a blacktip shark. Dirty Rock and Manuelita Out were the best place to see large schools of hammerheads, and over at Alcyone we didn't see the huge school we were hoping for, but we still had nice dives. We saw two 3m/10ft tiger sharks on our dive to Ulloa, more than making up for not seeing them in their usual spot in the Channel. The big schools of jacks were swirling and shifting shapes at Manuelita, Dirty Rock, Alcyone, and Ulloa.

Even with a few surge-filled dives, strong currents, and mostly rainy days, our group of divers were smiling and enjoying the trip every moment. Their upbeat attitude coupled with some amazing underwater action made this trip a huge success!

We hope to see everyone back in Cocos soon!
