"I also use the lens distortion correction sw on my 9-18mm lens to gain some improved edge sharpness."

Can you explain what this means?
Thnx

Not easy to explain but here is a link that may help a bit.
Cameras Underwater: Lens radial correction using Panorama Tools.

I believe the dome will help correcting refraction mainly and radial distortion and chromatic aberration somewhat but you can still see edge issues. When you use some radial SW correction you will see some definite improvement (although lose some FOV).

I use ACDSEE Pro with Raw files (very easy SW package but quite useful and flexible).

Hi Wisnu
I notice that most of the shots incorporating divers, the diver is out of focus.
My suggestion is that the camera is focusing on a close part of the subject and not having sufficient depth of field (depth of focus) to cover the entire scene?
Try using the centre focus option and focus on a part of the subject that is at a mid range distance in the image. Then hold the focus locked and recompose the image you want to take, don't move the camera to subject distance while you are holding the focus locked!
Also you could try using the manual focus option with wide angle shots. Try experimenting on a fixed subject and take a series of photos, slowly moving the focus from closest out to infinity, but keeping the camera to subject distance the same in every photo. Do this in steps that eventuate in around 30 photos all at different focus distances. Make some underwater notes that you can refer to later, relating the file number to the focus distance. I think you'll find there will be a group of say 5 shots where the focus appears to cover the greatest part of the image (from closest to furthest). You can soon make a small chart that shows you the best manual focus distance setting for the particular camera to subject distance you are taking.
Also try to use the highest aperture that gives you correct exposure (F11 if possible) this also will give you the greatest depth of focus.
Please say a big Hi to the girls from us :)

Jeff,
Many thanks for the advise. You're right, I only look to the main subject and took 2-3 shots only per subject. Look good and focus at small LCD but not on big monitor. Not to excuse but changing from compact to evil is not straight forward. And, this is my first time using wide lens.
It always great to have an expert who can guide step by step.. not 100% confirm, I'm planning to go to Bali end of may 2011. Will you be around ?
