We were looking for a closer spot to get wet than Dutch Springs and decided to give Candlewood Lake a go. Dykes Point Park turned out to be a real nice little spot and not a bad dive! The park rangers said it gets pretty crazy on weekends. We were there last Friday and just saw a few fishermen and hikers. We only did one dive as it got very windy and overcast after our first and I wimped out ;) Lots of structures to see and quite a few fish. Vis wasn't more than 5-6 feet. I suspect they got hit with a fair amount of rain during the week. We tried to take a look at Squantz Pond, but they wanted $15 parking even though we said we just wanted to check out the logistics for another day...

Question: Both Dykes and Squantz close Labor day. Can you still dive either of them or do they really close it off?

Squantz Pond is a state park so a quick look on CT's State Park website should answer that question. I have never heard of Dykes or Dikes Point, but it does not appear to be either town or state owned. A call to the town revealed that they believe it is utility co. property so you would have to check with them if this is correct. Good luck.
