Howdy all!!,
I was wondering if anybody has tried re-dying a BC thats been bleached from black to tan from lots of pool use. I am considering purchasing a used Mares thats in great shape, and fits perfectly. It is my LDS instructor's, and except for a years worth of constant pool use looks fine. It is a couple steps up from their bare bones student/rental units, and the price is right. I am not overly concerned about the color; however, I would like to know if the ballistic nylon can be re-dyed without harming the BC? I suspect the dye process probably needs to be done to new nylon fibers before they are processed, and dye wont bind afterwards, but I figured I'd ask. Anybody have any info. on this, or am I just being an idiot new diver? Thanks, Dugger
