Greetings all

I am heading to Dutch this weekend (08-16-08) for the first time this season. I was wondering if there is anything new to dive on or if there is anything that is a must to check out this year?

Also, does anyone have a current map that is more then just the one on the brochure?

Thanks in advance

The map on their website is more accurate than the dive slate they sell. :)

I'd say the Sikorsky, Helldiver and Firetruck are must sees. I also like the crane and trolly.

One of my favorite loops is to surface to the trolley, swim through the trolley, nav to the crane, follow the slope up to the Cessna, follow the line to the first unnamed boat wreck, follow the line to the Silver Comet wreck, then up to the platforms, then a safety stop, then up to switch out, have a couple bottles of water, an BS with other folks. :)

I have a couple photo albums from my Dutch dives:

What cfd said. I also prefer the far left side with the stairs and the pump house for a nice dive. Have fun!

Good luck on the weekend...it's usually packed to the gills!

CFD's trip is right on! though while you'r at the Trolley, you may want to slip down the hill to the
car and the 6X6 before heading back up to the crane...the trip up the hill to the Cessna is worth the price of admission!

It's going to be mobbed this weekend, there are a lot of big classes there this weekend. Don't know why, but the vis. has not been very good lately. There seems to be a cloud of silt around 20-30' that won't go away. The school bus is always fun to play in but last weekend it was pretty silted out.

Thanks guys. I am going to be camping out with my college roommates so even if it is silted out I am sure we will make the best of it.

The 6x6 is down the slope from the trolley? Only reason I haven't hit the 6x6 is it looks so far away on the slate and surface map.

Next trip, I'm there. :)

The car is just down the slope from the trolley and the 6X6 isn't far from that...the maps (and their slates) are pretty inaccurate..."close but no cigar".

I don't think I have the file here, but one of the guys I dive with fairly often has coordinates and approximate distances from some of the attractions...I'll have to look if he has that one outlined.

It's algae bloom time! I remember it was like that around this time last year. I was there on July 25th and it was starting to get bad...lot's or particulate crud floating, and a cloud.

I'm just hoping it starts to go away (as well as at my "home" quarry in Bainbridge)

Got some good dives in. It wasn't as packed as I thought it was going to be. But, that could be due to the admission price and the fact that you don't get a bottle of water on the way out anymore.

that really did upset me.
