I just got a WP-DC300 housing for my Canon S50. I want to try a dive without the camera installed just to work out all the kinks in dealing with the housing. Does anyone have any suggestions for what to put in the case to simulate the weight of the camera? I've thought about lead shot, but I'm not thrilled with that since it'll roll around (even in a bag), and could possibly damage the case. Any thoughts?

Drill a hole in a small lead weight and use a 1/4-20 screw to attach it to the tripod mount.

Or clip some weight to the wrist lanyard.

All the best, James

I say the camera itself!

You could try salt water... Odds are some day that will be in there.

LEGAL NOTE: The above was just a joke do not really try salt water

Actually, wisdom (meaning other divers with more experience than me) says to test out a new housing without the camera, to make sure it doesn't leak.
