The literature on this system says it will work under most BC’s I have never actually been in the water with one on, but have tried them on in the shop and noticed they are quite popular around here. I have just a base model Sequest jacket style BC, but am worried about access to the drop handles on the DUI system under the BC. Can somebody enlighten a new diver as to how this works in the “real world” are there setups were the DUI system will not work? Are they well known? Documented? I am not in a great position to try before I buy so any help would be appreciated.

I'd say take your BC into the LDS and try it out. I dive a weight + trim just because I have to sink a dry suit with a lot of fluff insulation and I don't know if I would dive it if I didn't need all the weight. No complaints though I like it a lot because walking around for shore dives the weight is on my shoulders not feeling like a loaded diper.

One of the primary reasons I want the sytem is that here in eastern Maine I have to walk to dive sites along the beach and it is much easier to carry the weight on my shoulders. I also dive with a lot of weight with two layers of 7mm suit to sink and inexperience to get over. They do not stock the system at the "local" shop which is still a long way from here.

I use the w&t II, and I wear it so it is lower than the waist strap on my plate so it's easily accessible. I've never worn it with a jacket BC, and sea2summit hit it on the head. You should really try a dry fit before you dive it, if you can't get to the handles I wouldn't try to dive it. Maybe a couple of e-mails to some of the online dealers might be an easier answer. Check their return policies, maybe they will accept an undamaged vest back even with a dive on it if you really don't like it. I definitely see more cold water divers using the setup, and it is very comfortable, much more so than my weight intergrated BC ever was (out of the water anyway, never had comfort issues with either in the water). Good Luck.
