Anyone one know what the difference is between the classic trim system and the trim system 2? Why does the classic trim system cost more than the new system2?

From the DUI site (same price):

Weight & Trim System Classic $118
Size: S, M, L
Features:
  • Easily holds 40 pounds
  • Weight pockets adjust up and down, forward and back
  • Patented double pull-cord lanyard weight release system
  • Tote Bag
Weight & Trim II $118
Size: S, M, ML, L, XL, XX
Features:
  • Easily holds 40 pounds
  • Weight pockets adjust up and down
  • Patented double pull-cord lanyard weight release system
  • Extended sizes for a great fit!
  • Tote Bag
BTW, I have a W&T II size Large available. Used once.

The Classic uses 2" webbing throughout. The II has a more "soft" appearance. If you visit the DUI website you'll see the difference.

FWIW both systems will support considerably more than 40 pounds; I've loaded mine with 60+ just to see if it would hold. It did. No, I did not dive it.

The one "complaint" I have about the systems is the weight pockets can slide around a bit, and the harness on the II can leave dangly ends. But there are ways of correcting those deficiencies ...

The website needs to be updated; I currently use the Classic but its pockets have been "skid proofed" as well and the buckles on both replaced with buckles of my design.

My LDS said the II is being phased out soon.

so im better off going with the classic because it has better range of adjustments? Is it true that they will be phasing out the II system?

Matt S.:
My LDS said the II is being phased out soon.

I spoke to DUI reps at Sea Rovers this weekend and asked that question. I was told the II sells well and there is no plan to eliminate it from the product line. At "worst" the best elements of the Classic and II will be combined into a new product which will replace both existing designs. That is not a quote or guarantee of any potential future product.

LDS owner being misinformed? Unpossible! :)

From the bottom of the page where it says similar threads...

FWIW I hate my DUI harness. With a steel tank and back plate, it puts too much weight on my shoulders when hiking to our dive sites. Plus the dang straps always get caught on something and wind up falling off. I switched to a 16 lb Sea Soft Pro weight belt and am extremely happy. Even my bony hips do not complain.
